Data collection
Benthoscore does not collect personal information, diagnostics, analytics, advertising identifiers, precise location, contacts, photos, audio, or usage history. It has no account system, developer-operated cloud service, advertising SDK, or analytics SDK.
Data stored on the device
The app stores survey names, waterbody and station identifiers, collection details, user-entered coordinates, measurements, organism tallies, habitat scores, field notes, visit history, and the selected working method profile inside the app container. The field library is written atomically and retains one local recovery backup.
Exports
When the user creates a PDF, CSV, or JSON export, Benthoscore writes a temporary file on the device. The file is disclosed only to the destination the user selects through Apple’s share sheet. The selected destination’s privacy terms then apply.
Network access and external links
All core features work without a network connection. The Methods section contains user-initiated links to public EPA and USGS documents. Opening a link transfers control to the system browser, where the destination website’s privacy policy applies.
Permissions
Benthoscore does not request camera, microphone, contacts, photo-library, tracking, Bluetooth, motion, or location permission. Coordinates, when used, are entered manually.
Retention and deletion
Users can delete individual survey records in the field library. Removing the app deletes its app-container records according to the operating system’s normal behavior. Copies exported to another app or service must be deleted from that destination separately.
Children
Benthoscore is a technical field-recording tool and does not knowingly collect information from children or any other user.
Changes
Material changes to this policy will be published on this page with a revised effective date.
